Reminder - Player transfers close Monday 30th June 2025

27 Jun by Ben Hunter

Hi all,

I received this notification earlier today from AFL Victoria, reminding everyone that transfers close in a few days. If you have players considering signing up I suggest you get them to request a transfer ASAP to avoid missing out

A reminder that in accordance with 3.3(b)(i)(B) of the National Community Football Policy Handbook (Policy Handbook), Player Transfers will close at 11.59pm (AEST) on 30 June.

As outlined in clause 3.3(b)(ii) of the Policy Handbook, a State Football Body may permit an intrastate Transfer Request, or the relevant State Football Bodies may jointly permit an interstate Transfer Request, outside of the Transfer Periods (i.e. beyond June 30) where:
exceptional and compelling circumstances apply to the Transfer Request
the ’24-month rule’ set out in Section 3.5© applies to the Transfer Request

Please note the following information from the National Community Football Team:

To initiate a transfer post the June 30 deadline, the Stakeholder Services Team must receive an email (clubhelp@afl.com.au) from one of the people listed below confirming that they are satisfied that either of the above apply.

State / Territory
Written approval required from
VIC
Darryl Collings or Joel Lovett

Please see Late Transfer Request form (here) that players, clubs or leagues may wish to use to help those wishing to apply for a transfer outside the Transfer Window.
As above, someone listed above must email clubhelp@afl.com.au for assistance to initiate a transfer post the June 30 deadline. The Stakeholder Services Team will then initiate the transfer request.
If the request comes from someone other than those listed above (even if someone from that list is cc’d), the Stakeholder Services Team will forward the enquiry to those listed and await their approval before initiating the request.
Where it is an interstate Transfer Request the relevant State Football Bodies are to agree before contacting the Stakeholder Services Team. Written confirmation is to be provided from both relevant State Football Bodies.
The request must be in writing. The Stakeholder Services Team will not accept a request via phone – in this scenario, they will request that the request is lodged in writing via email to clubhelp@afl.com.au.
Players / clubs seeking assistance to initiate a transfer request post the June 30 deadline are advised that these may take 24-48 hours (during business hours) to process. By way of example, players / clubs seeking assistance on a Friday evening with the intention of playing that weekend, will not be processed until the following week. Further, as per 3.4(a)(i) the Source Club will have up to 6 calendar days to either approve or refuse the Transfer Request.
